Michael Danquah
Michael Danquah, M.S., Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Chicago State University College of Pharmacy (CSU-COP). He obtained his Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Danquah has expertise in pharmaceutical dosage forms and translational medicine and has several years’ experience in design and synthesis of novel biodegradable polymers for controlled drug and nucleic acid delivery, nano-based combination therapy for treating cancer, design and construction of novel bipartite shRNA expressing plasmids for cancer therapy, formulation, delivery, in vitro and in vivo characterization of siRNA, shRNA and miRNAs for treating cancer and application of stem cells and biomaterials for tissue regeneration and repair.
Dr. Danquah is highly interested in teaching and mentoring the next generation of pharmacists and scientists. He is the recipient of the prestigious 2016 AACR Minority-Serving Institution Faculty Scholar in Cancer Research Award. He is also the recipient of the 2014 and 2015 profiles in excellence award from the Chicago State University.
Dr. Danquah is a Consulting Editor for International Journal of Nanomedicine and Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Oncology Research and Experimental Medicine (JOREM). He also serves on the editorial board of 9 scientific journals and as a regular reviewer for several journals. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), American Chemical Society (ACS), American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), and the Society for Biomaterials (SFB). He has several peer-reviewed journal articles and edited a book on “Emerging Trends in Cell and Gene Therapy”.
